Uptown Drum Circle to host event on Broadway Avenue

The Uptown Drum Circle is hosting an event this Saturday, June 1 from 6 p.m. to 9p.m. on Broadway Avenue in Columbus. 

The event will be family-friendly with a kids corner that features face painting, temporary tattoos, temporary colored hairspray, and lip-shaped noise makers.  Other activities include mucisians, local goods and services raffle, a yoga demo by Art of Yoga Studio, belly and fire dance demo with jingly hip scarves available for purchase, and a re-purposed art exhibition and auction.

Midtown Classic 5K Run and One Mile Fun Run to benefit local neighborhood non-profits

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- On Saturday, April 27, Wynnton United Methodist Church (UMC) will sponsor and host the Seventh Annual Midtown Classic 5K Run and One Mile Fun Run. Proceeds of this event will support the Wynnton Neighborhood Network, and Wynnton Neighborhood Housing.

The One Mile Fun Run begins at 8:00 a.m. Participants in this event may walk or run.

The 5K Race begins at 9:00 am.

The race course will begin at Wynnton UMC, run through the Lakebottom area and return to the Wynnton UMC site. All age groups may participate. Awards will be given from ages 0-70+.

CVBWF Inc. to host 30th Anniversary of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial

The Chattahoochee Valley Better Way Foundation will be hosting the 30th Anniversary of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial on May 19, from 4-6 p.m. at the Columbus Government Center. 

The event will include music, tribute, candlelight procession, testimonials, and a reading by Councilor Pops Barnes.

1st Annual Transplant and Organ Donor Drive

COLUMBUS, GA. (WTVM) -- The Agape Group Foundation, Patterson Dental Group, and Lifelink will be hosting the 1st Annual Transplant and Organ Donor Drive. 

The event will take place on April 20, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Uptown on Broadway on the 1000th block (in front of the CSU Bookstore). 

There will be games, food, and prizes, as well as an address from guest speaker Carla Hawkins.  The mission will to support families in Columbus, and help patients in need of organ transplants to find their donors. 

New City Services Center adds to bustling Midtown

COLUMBUS, GA - The Columbus Museum has a new exhibit opening this weekend that will run through April.
