Goodwill’s new Midtown retail store and donation center hosts grand opening | News
On Friday, December 14 at 9 a.m. in Columbus Midtown, GWISR will be opening the first of five new stores following an expansion announcement earlier this fall.
The day will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a tour of the new retail location and donation center. The first 200 people in line before the store opens will receive a gift, and one lucky shopper can win a tablet.
On grand opening day, Goodwill’s Midtown 13,400 square foot facility will welcome shoppers looking for everyday savings on clothing and household items. The convenient donation center is located in the back of the facility for anyone choosing to donate and then shop. Twenty-five new team members trained for four weeks to ensure the Columbus Midtown location is stocked with the value finds Goodwill is known for.
“This new store is going to allow us to continuously fund our mission,” said GWISR’s President and CEO, Jane P. Nichols. “The donations and revenue generated from those donations allow us to help people in this community earn jobs through our career services and training centers.”
The Goodwill Success and Training Centers are located in the Cross Country Plaza office buildings behind the retail and donation location. People in the community can visit the centers to receive job search assistance, attend budgeting courses, or get their federal taxes prepared for free through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. GWISR funds these free services through the sale of gently used items.
