COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)- A Columbus area student has been accused of bringing a weapon to school.

Officials say a 3rd-grade student at Wynnton Elementary reportedly brought a knife from home. He is said to have shown it to other students on the bus.

Later, he gave the weapon to another student where it was found in a backpack.

No one was injured.

The student now faces disciplinary action.

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)- Columbus' new natatorium and city services building are already under construction, but with $450,000 of the 2013 proposed budget set aside for this project, where will that money go?

Mayor Teresa Tomlinson tells News Leader 9, it will pay for jobs and the cost of running the two facilities. "The natatorium right now … would require 8 new full-time jobs and 11 part-time jobs."

COLUMBUS, GA - The Springer is looking for the next stars for their 2012-13 season.

Auditions for the season will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, May 21 through 23.

These auditions are required for any adult wishing to be considered for a leading, supporting or chorus role in a play or a musical in the State Theatre of Georgia’s Mainstage and Studio productions.
